Installation & upkeep

Straight answers
Will this work with well water? Yes — KDF 85 was chosen specifically for well water problems: hydrogen sulfide odor and iron. For heavy sediment, add a sediment pre-filter ahead of the tank.
Does it lower water pressure? Not at this sizing. The 1″ connections and 1.0 cu. ft. bed support 10–12 GPM, plenty for a 1–2 bathroom home.
Why a mechanical timer instead of a digital valve? Fewer things to break. The 5600 timer is the most widely used residential valve in the world — parts are cheap, and any water treatment tech knows it.
How often does the media need replacing? The programmable backwash keeps the bed clean and prevents channeling, giving the media a multi-year service life. Actual life depends on your water chemistry and usage.
