Why the Fleck 5600SXT?
The Fleck 5600SXT is the “brain” of your system, and it’s the same industry-standard digital valve trusted across residential water treatment. It automatically manages the backwash cycle — flushing sediment and refreshing the carbon bed on its own schedule, which also prevents “channeling,” a common problem where water carves a path through an unmaintained carbon bed and starts bypassing most of the media. No monthly filter changes, no manual backwashing to remember.
What This System Removes
Powered by high-activity coconut shell GAC carbon, this system effectively reduces chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, organic compounds, MTBE, and THMs — along with the everyday tastes and odors that make tap water unpleasant. GAC carbon also has some effect on chloramine, though it’s noticeably less effective there than our Fleck 5600SXT Catalytic Carbon system, which is purpose-built for chloramine and hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg smell). If chloramine or sulfur odor is your main concern, that’s the better fit — this GAC system is the right call for standard chlorine taste and odor, at a more affordable price point.
